1 Earth Day

I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Each blade of grass,
Each honey tree,
Each bit of mud,
And stick and stone
Is blood and muscle,
Skin and bone.

And just as I
Need every bit
Of me to make
My body fit,
So Earth needs
Grass and stone and tree
And things that grow here
Naturally.

That's why we
Celebrate this day.
That's why across
The world we say:
As long as life,
As dear, as free,
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.

2 Our Special Earth

Our Earth is very special,

As special as can be,

Though it's not the closest planet

To the Sun--that's Mercury.

It's not the hottest planet,

That's Venus--"Evening Star,"

It's not the biggest planet,

That's Jupiter by far.

It's not the smallest planet,

That's Pluto--cold as ice,

'It's not famous for its reddish tint,

That's Mars--to be precise.

It's not a ball of gas like

Uranus and Neptune,

It has no rings like Saturn's,

It only has one moon.

But Earth's alive with animals,

With flowers, grass, and trees.

And best of all our special Earth

Is home to you and me.

3 In Tune With Mother Nature
If you listen for the songbirds
As they greet the summer sun,
And love the way the wind can make
The trees sings just for fun;
If you like to hear the ocean
As it drums upon the shore,
And imagine all the whales out there,
And hope they'll sing some more;
If you think of all the animals
As players in a band,
Each with a lovely tune to play,
All needed on the land;
And know that as a boy or girl
A woman or a man
You have a vital role to play
In Mother Nature's plan;
If you honor every living thing
As a part of nature's treasure
You're in tune with Mother Nature
So let's all sing her song together.

If a tree could talk, what would it say?
"Don't chop me down, just walk away."
If a river could talk, what would it say?"
"Don't dump in trash, throw it away."
If the air could talk, what would it say?
"The factories must learn to keep smoke away."
If the animals could talk, what would they say?
"Help us to live, we wish to stay."
If the Earth could talk, what would it say?
"Protect me by making everyday Earth day."
