Study Plan at Meiji University. The study plan is very important for the student to write. We will be making arrangements for selection of the School/Department to which an exchange student will be enrolled by this information. An advisory professor will also be selected from the information written. Therefore, the applicant is advised to state his/her study plan and/or interested area of study as in detail as possible. An applicant to the Meiji Graduate School should submit a more detailed research plan showing the applicant's selected research theme, described subject and proposed supervising professor at Meiji, in addition to the Study Plan Form.

Housing Information

Meiji University has no dormitory. However, CIP can assist you to arrange accommodation before your arrival, either in a dormitory or apartment managed by private companies with which Meiji University has contracts.

Rent (per month): Depending on area, size of the room, etc., the cost of housing varies greatly.

Average costs in Tokyo area:

Apartment

One room (9.7m) with small kitchen less than ￥40000

One room (9.7m) with small kitchen and lavatory Approximately ￥60000

One room (9.7m) with small kitchen, lavatory and bath Approximately ￥80000

Boarding room with one meal per day More than ￥65000

At present boarding rooms are not common in the Tokyo area. Apartments in Japan are usually unfurnished. Therefore a large amount of money is required to buy things you need. Again, second-hand used shops are not common in Japan.

Rent is to be paid monthly one month in advance.

Housing Financial Assistance

If you sign a contract to rent a room by yourself without CIP's assistance, Meiji University will provide you upon application with financial assistance for the key money and the equivalent of two months real estate agent's fee up to a maximum amount of ￥300000. To apply for this housing aid, you need to submit a receipt for the key money and real estate agent's fee. This financial assistance is available only once during the exchange period per person.
