Good afternoon! Ladies and gentlemen, I’m ZhuLichao, from Yuanqing middle school. I’m honored to be here and give my speech!

First of all, let’s have a look at this map. Everybody knows this is a map of China. This is our mainland and this is Taiwan, which is separated by the Taiwan straight. For almost 50 years, we have made efforts to find ways to bring her back, but in vain. Anyway, I, a young boy, still have a dream that one day this beautiful island will come back. It is not only my dream, but the dream deeply rooted in the heart of every Chinese.

When Lien Chan and James Soong set foot on the soil of the mainland, I know that this dream will come true soon. “We are all Chinese”, they said, yes, we are all Chinese. China is our only family. For the union of the motherland, I hope that one day people on both sides of the straight will sit and live together. I hope that one day the political leaders on both sides will join hands and develop this nation, both economically and socially.

Let’s stand up, let’s unite. The beautiful future is in our hands!
