这题选B 但是C 为什么不对呢，这是省略的用法
不对，SO和NOT在省略中可以代替一个句子
比如，
---Is he coming tonight?
---I hope so \not =I hope he is coming tonight\isn't coming tonight.
这样的话A答案he hopes so =he still hopes he didn't pass the exam.而C答案he hopes not=he didn't hope he didn't pass the exam。双重否定就等于肯定了啊，所以我不赞成一楼的说法，请切磋，谢谢！

hope to pass the exam 和主句的成分相同为了避免重复就省略了。如果是选择c的话，话的意思就反过来了。
C为什么不对：
第一、同意楼上说的，选择c的话，意思不通
第二、抛开意思不谈，单看省略用法，C有语法错误。省略用法的否定形式应该是hopes not to，千万别忘了还有个to！
