CONCLUSION
The phosphorus-containing DOPO epoxy resin was successfully synthesized. DOPO epoxy resin cured with Ph Nov, DDS, or DICY yields products with higher Tg, thermal stability, and better flame retardancy than those of Bis-A epoxy resin. DOPO epoxy resin may be suitable as a reactive flame retardant by mixing with Bis-A epoxy resin for encapsulation applications. DOPO epoxy resin exhibits better flame retardancy and thermal stability than that of TBBA, but also generated much less visible smoke during combustion.
