Born on the 18th of January, 1981, in Seoul, Kang Dong Won is a young hearthrob who comes with dark, tall, and handsome, and even his piercing eyes can kill a girl. He started his career as a model and a presenter for lots of advertisements, and then became an actor. In 2003, Kang Dong Won started his debut drama "Lady of Dignity", which was a blend of romance and comedy, and later in the same year, his second drama "something About 1%" was airing in Korean on MBC. His lovely character from the drama made him a new idol of Korean girls.

In 2004, Kang Dong Won made his first movie "Too Beautiful Too Lie" with a famous star Kim Ha-Neul (Ditto, My Tutor Friend), having a role of Choi Hee Chul, a clumsy rural boy who was misunderstood to be the fiance of a stranger lady who got Hee Chul's ring. His second movie "Romance of Their Own" also was launched in 2004 with a hit among teenagers. Adapted from a famous internet novel of a young author Guiyeoni, "Romance of Their Own" was a touching and romantic love story, Kang Dong Won roled Tae Sung, a young boy who falls in love with his sister, but in the end it was a tragedy. Indeed, this movie made girls crazy for him, and became a great success of Kang Dong Won when he's labeled as a young hot actor in Korea. Because of his charm and strong performance, Kang Dong Won is wanted for many dramas. He took a lead role in another drama "Magic", which he's changed the role from innocent boy to a guy who could burn anyone with his revenge.

In 2005, Kang Dong Won has changed his role again in his latest period movie "duelist" with Ha Ji Won, taking the role of a mysterious killer who armed a long, sharp sword while trying to escape from being arrested.

Kang Dong Won currently has a new drama called "Palace" with famous stars like Jo In-Sung, Moon Geun-Young, and a pop diva BOA.
