达里奥·马利安那利（Dario Marianelli）的这个名字实在是很陌生，其实他刚刚以《格林兄弟》（The Brothers Grimm）的配乐让好莱坞配乐界留下深刻印象，乐评家对他也很捧场，Music from the Movies给了他五颗星的最高荣誉。

紧接着这部由简·奥斯汀改编的经典名著，这个意大利作曲家继续以古典与浪漫兼具的曲风又一次赢得乐评的赞扬，宛如英国典雅派教主帕特里克·多叶（Patrick Doyle）风格，点缀以浪漫极微主义作品，《傲慢与偏见》的音乐只能用美不胜收来形容。

初听这张原声大碟，“如沐春风”是唯一的感想。由法国钢琴家Jean-Yves Thibaudet担任所有的钢琴演奏，让原声中的钢琴质感一流，加上英国室内管弦乐团的协奏，可看出制片与导演对配乐的重视程度。

达里奥·马利安那利自己说，导演希望作曲家写出一段钢琴独奏，让主角在影片中演奏，导演拿贝多芬的早期奏鸣曲让他参考，希望他仿作出简·奥斯汀那个年代的人可能听到的音乐，因此早在电影开拍前，达里奥就参与了作曲的工作，第一首“Dawn”与“Georgiana”就是在开拍前写就，其中“Dawn”更成为女主角伊丽莎白的主题，在音乐发展中不断被用到。

而“Liz On Top Of The World”与“Your Hands Are Cold”则展现了如《钢琴课》中浪漫激越的旋律，与仿古典奏鸣曲之作形成有力的对比，让听众很容易区分出音乐扮演的角色，更有趣的是，在影片中由主角所演奏的“有源音乐”（如“Dawn”）却在浪漫旋律中穿进穿出，背景配乐与“有源音乐”水乳交融，声气一致，整张原声带的可听性大为提高。
