The book of Job is one of the oldest books in the collection of books known as the Bible. The book is believed to be one of the first books written, despite its placement in the Old . This book chronicles the life of a man named Job.

Job was a very wealthy man during his time period. He had a loving wife and ten children. He was an upright man and feared God, which, during this time period, many believed was why he was so wealthy and prosperous. However, one day Satan made a bet with God that if God stripped Job of all his worldly possesions, Job would curse God and forsake Him. God told Satan he could do to Job as he wished, as long as he did not touch him physically.

All in one terribly tragic day, Job lost all of his worldy possesions, and his sons and ghters. One by one everything he had was stripped from him. His wife began to nag at him about just ending his life, and all of his friends turned on him and told him he must have sin in his life.

Job, however, did not curse God. Satan came back to God and told Him that if Job were also stripped of his health, he would then surely
curse God. So God allowed Satan to touch Job physically as well. Job was cursed with a terrible bout of boils all over his
body, which were extremely painful and most likely disgusting for others to look at.

All of these things had started to get to Job a little bit, and he knew, unlike his friends told him, that he had done nothing wrong by
God. While Job did not curse God, he did tell God that he had done nothing wrong, and wanted an answer as to why this was happening
to him.

Rather than giving Job a flat out answer, God proceeded to tell Job how magnificant He really was. He asked Job a long string of questions, showing Job His magnitude and Job's tininess in the grand scheme of things. By the end of the book, Job places his trust back in God's sovereignty, and eventually aquires his possesions back, more than he had started with.
