Andriy's early years had not gone quite so smoothly, for at the
age of nine,this boy from Dvirkivshchyna, not far from Tchernobyl
was one of thousands of local children forced to flee to the coast with their families to avoid the terrible after-dffects of
the unclear power plant disaster.On a sporting level too,the path
to glory was full of major obstacles(障碍),as in 1986,he failed a
trial for entry to a specialist sports school. But luckily for young Shevchenko and for the game of football,Alexander Shpakov,
a scout for Dynamo Kiev,spotted him playing in a youth league match in the same year.
In 1993,Shevchenko joined the Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev and played for his club until 1999.During this time ,Shevchenko scored 17 goals in 26 Champions League games and this made him the hottest property in European football.AC Milan finally paid 25 million dollars to bring him to the San Siro.The club received
reward only a few months later,Shevchenko finished top scorer in Serie A in his debut season with 24 goals.The sharp shooter clocked up his 100th Serie A goal this season.He is worst nightmare of Serie A defenders.His fans dub him"The lethal weapon",yes,he really is!
