thread是缝衣服的线，实物的线。

line 多用于抽象的线，也可用于指画在地上的线，画在书本上的线

thread 多指缝衣服的线，也指思路，线索

thread 是线状实物，比较强调它的(物理)实质性。

如：
This rope is made of many pieces of thin cotton threads. You can use it to draw a line in the middle of the table.
This piece of thread is made of nylon.

thread是棉,毛,纱,丝等线,是比较细小的.needle and thread
for sewing(缝纫用的针和线)
也可比喻细小的东西,如 a thread of light(一线光)

line通常是指画出来或标出来的线.可以是直的,弯的或是其它(
straight,curved line, wavy , zigzag , spiral and so on)
line 也可表示一个人,一个家族,一个朝代的年表: Time line
of John Smith.
Line 跟thread 有相似的地方,它也可表示具体的一条线如:
fishing line(钓鱼线),clothes line(晒衣线),telephone
line(电话线).
