I think the basic reason is that the most Americans are popular.Such as music,like hip-hops,jazz,they dates back at an early age from the U.S. What's more, American is a nation that is capable to accept other's opinion, ideas, so it is a nation which changes at a high rate of speed. That's why American's culture is called pop culture.

Pop culture is defined as POPular culture, it is what is hype or 'in' these days. The reason why Americans generate so much of today's pop culture lies with the influence that the US have over the rest of the world.

Most countries speak or at least understand English, thus allowing the American media to reach, directly, to audiences across the world. In addition, the US is by far the richest country in the world; and no doubt, is the largest creator of entertainment. The well-known place called Hollywood hosts the largest of the media corporations, such as Universal, Warner Brothers and Columbia-Tristar. These companies spend billions each year just to churn out the best movies with the best special effects along with the best actors. While innovation and storyline may not be their specialty, their budgets and certainly profits allow them to continuously generate films and music. This in turn feeds to the cultures of the rest of the world.

Thus, it is evident that the pop culture of the world is the culture of America.

I think one of the most possible reason is that there are many popular things in America, for example, the pop music,the pop movie,the pop fashion,the pop science and so on.

USA is greatly affected by the Beatles, which made them become hippies.
