Bess once wrote a long novei.She sent it to a famous editor.Aftera few days the editor returned the novel to her.Bess was angry.She wrote back to the editir:
"Dear,Sir,
Yesterdayyou sent back a novel of mine.How do you know that the novel is not good?You did not read it.before I sent you the novel.I pasted together pages18,19 and 20.This was a test to see whether you would read the novel.When the novel came back yesterday,the pages were still pasted together.Is this the way you read all the novels that are sent to you?"
The editor wrote back:
"Dear Madam,
At breakfast I have an egg.I do not have to eat the whole egg in order to discover that it is bad."
"Dear,Sir,

贝丝写了一部长篇小说。她把小说寄给了一个有名的主编。几天后，主编把小说退回给了她。贝丝非常生气，于是乎她给编辑回了一封信：
尊敬的先生，
昨天你把我的小说退回给我，你怎么知道我的小说不好呢？你根本就没有看过。在给你投稿之前，我就把18、19和20页粘在一起，以此来检验你是否读过。昨天小说回来后，我看过它们还是粘在一起。这就是你对寄给你的所有小说的处理方法吗？
编辑回信：
亲爱的女士：
早餐过后我会吃一个鸡蛋。但是我不会吃掉一整个鸡蛋来判断这个鸡蛋的好坏。

早餐我吃了一个鸡蛋，我并没有吃完整个鸡蛋就发现它是坏的！
